Troubleshooting Tips

Cartridge Installation

1. Prepare Cartridge. As cartridges often do not remain in an upright position during shipping it is best to set them upright for a few minutes before installing in your printer. If you do not plan to use the cartridges immediately, store them in an upright position. This will ensure that ink is at the nozzles when you are ready to use the cartridge.

2. Install Cartridge. It is best to refer to your printer's operating manual when installing your new cartridge. Directions can often be found on the inside of your printer's cover.

3. Clean/Prime Print head. You should always run your printer's print head cleaning utility after installing a new cartridge. This keeps the cartridge nozzles clean and ensures print quality. Please refer to your printer's operating manual for directions on running the utility.

Remanufactured Cartridges

Troubleshooting for Remanufactured Cartridges

If you are not getting optimum results form our remanufactured cartridge please do the following.

1. Place your cartridge in a shallow dish of warm water (about 1/4"). Soak only the print head (the metallic looking portion of the cartridge) until you see black (black cartridge) or all three colors (color cartridge) of ink flowing from the cartridge into the water. This may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.

2. Gently dry your cartridge using a cotton swab or tissue.

3. Place the cartridge into your printer and run the print head cleaning utility (see your printer's operating manual for directions).

4. Print a test page to see if quality has improved.

*If the above steps do not improve print quality, please contact us for a replacement.

Compatible Cartridges

Troubleshooting for Compatible Cartridges

Our compatible cartridges have a failure rate of less than 1%. Below are trouble shooting tips for the most common problems/questions.

PROBLEM: Horizontal/Vertical White Lines
SOLUTION: Make sure the print head nozzles are not clogged. Try running the print head cleaning utility 3-4 times before printing again (see your printer's operating manual for directions). Both OEM and compatible cartridges must have the print head cleaning utility run multiple times to achieve optimal print quality.

PROBLEM: Printout is faint
SOLUTION: Make sure the paper you are using isn't damaged, old, or loaded incorrectly. Specialty papers are designed for only one side to be printed on.

PROBLEM: Print is blurry or smeared
SOLUTION: Check the thickness of the paper you are using to make sure that it meets manufacturer's specifications. Make sure the paper is not damp. If either it these is true, replace the paper. Make sure the cartridge's nozzles are not clogged. Running the print head cleaning utility 3-4 times before printing again will often solve the problem (see your printer's operating manual for directions).

PROBLEM: Colors are incorrect
SOLUTION: If the printed colors appear to be incorrect, run your printer's print head cleaning utility 3-4 times (see your printer's operating manual for directions). If you run the print head cleaning utility and the colors are still incorrect the cartridge is defective. Please contact us for a free replacement.
